Meet Coach Zach
Coach Zach Hawley, Head Diving Coach of George Mason University, Program Director and Head Diving Coach of Mason Dive Academy, has over 15 years of elite coaching experience. While at Mason, Coach Zach has consistently developed his divers to qualify for the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Finals. Most recently, Zach was named the 2017 A10 Conference Men's Diving Coach of the Year where he had male divers make finals, of which his senior diver won 1 meter and was runner up on 3 meter. Before his 4 year tenure at GMU, Coach Zach lead South Dakota State University Divers to Conference Championship finals as well as NCAA Zones. Under his direction, the SDSU Divers broke every school diving record and made history becoming the first NCAA DI Zone qualifiers. Coach Zach's direction helped lead SDSU from DII to DI.
Over the past 4 years, Coach Zach has used scientific progression system to developed an elite level club program. His philosophy continues to transform the Mason divers from the early beginners to the Junior Olympic level. Most recently, Mason Dive Academy competed 7 at USA Diving Regionals and had 5 USA Diving Zone qualifiers. Under Coach Zach, MDA also qualified 4 divers for AAU Red White and Blue Nationals, with 2 Divers qualifying for finals. MDA also competed 7 Divers at the AAU Nationals where 3 made finals in their age groups. At AAU Nationals the top finalists placed 2nd, 4th, 5th, 9th and 10th as well as a 4th place finish in women's synchro.
A graduate from North Dakota State University, Zach earned his degrees in Exercise Science and Kinesiology. During his college career, Zach competed at NCAA DII Nationals all four years and was a strong addition to his team. Zach later received a Masters degree in Exercise Science from South Dakota State University where his collegiate coaching career began. During the 2010 - 2012 summer seasons, Coach Zach worked as a professional diver and traveled the nation performing High Dive shows and working alongside some of the nations top divers and diving coaches.
Mason Dive Academy welcomes Coach Anthony Crowder in his second year with the program. Anthony’s proven track record of coaching, mentoring and developing some of the country's best divers make him a perfect fit with Mason’s mission and philosophy. Anthony brings a passion for the sport of diving and a commitment to excellence while instilling an encouraging and dynamic culture.
A graduate from UNC Charlotte with concentrations in marketing and management, Anthony brings over 10 years of coaching experience to MDA, including collegiate coaching at the DII level where he had a national champion and the DI level where his divers were conference finalists and podium finishers as well as NCAA DI Zone qualifiers this past year. Under Anthony’s direction his divers have set new school records at The George Washington University for springboard as well as setting brand new Platform records.
At the club level Anthony has worked alongside Olympians and Olympic diving coaches and continuously strives for personal and professional growth. Anthony has developed and produced North Carolina High School State Champions, multiple AAU national qualifiers and 2 AAU National champions as well as multiple USA diving zone and national qualifiers. Anthony has also had the opportunity to work with programs that have produced National, International and Olympic Trials Qualifying Divers.
Growing up Anthony was an IHSA State Diving finalist finishing 12th and 2nd his Junior and Senior year respectively. His senior year he earned NISCA All-American honors and was ranked 19th in the Nation. He entered his collegiate career as a NCAA DI Athlete on scholarship. Later, Anthony competed at the USA Diving Senior Zone level and was competitive at the Springboard and Platform events. His past athletic and coaching experiences have grown his passion for the sport of diving. His proven ability to foster a positive team-based environment while cultivating top athletes and a championship culture is invaluable.
Mason Dive Academy would like to welcome Coach Timmy Pearce. Growing up in Alexandria, Timmy has been coaching for high schools and NVSL summer teams for the past 10 years. While attending Georg Mason University, he also competed for the Division 1 Dive Team. His passion for the sport and energetic character on the pool deck creates a fun atmosphere for everyone to enjoy...even from the stands!!! It is great for the divers to see a coach having fun with the kids. His 3 rules for all practices are:

Coach Timmy’s Summer League Team the Sideburn Sharks was this year’s Division 1 District champion.
Having Timmy on deck is an excellent addition to the MDA Coach Staff for the kids to enjoy the sport of diving.
Was a diver at the University of Delaware where he still holds records for 11 dives on 1m and 3m. Coach Dave works at Chesterbrook elementary school and in the summer he coaches at the NVSL team at Chesterbrook Swim Club.
Coach Dave primarily works the recreational divers at the Mason Dive Academy. Helping them prepare for High School Diving and helping them prepare dives for diving in College.
